The scope of work, carried out by HENPOL Company, includes refurbishment and finishing works in the two existing buildings' structures, and also landscaping and infrastructure. Both buildings will be connected by a basement garage. The usable floor area of buildings ‘A’ and ‘B’ will be 2,577m² and 1,973m², respectively.
The new Town Hall was designed by architects from APA Kurylowicz & Associates Architecture Studio. The new design increases the building’s floorspace and provides energy saving solutions compatible with principles of sustainable development. Rainwater will be harvested, stored in retention basins and used for irrigation of soft landscaped areas. The architects proposed the use of a heat recovery system and installation of photovoltaic panels on the roof. They also proposed to reduce the height of the hall by two floors – originally the hall was planned to extend the whole height of the building.
The design provides for sandstone and copper details on the building façades.
The first and second floors of building ‘B’, where originally office spaces were planned, will house the register office and City Wardens head office.
The buildings will have four storeys above-ground and one basement storey. The underground garage will have a capacity of 161 parking lots. The total above-ground volume will be 25,256m³, and the below ground volume 16,344m³.
