Private House in the Fields (Woonhuis Koper in het veld)

Copper Benelux

A new private house and painters workshop annex features undulating copper roofs. The roofs are 50 centimetre box section, dressed with copper squares, which curves and undulates in a number of directions.

Nijverdal and Wierden is a very beautiful area and the new building is clearly different from the style of the farm buildings along the country roads.

The most striking aspect of this private house is the large undulating copper roof.  It was the intention of the designer that the house appears as a sculptural object set in the natural landscape.

Differences in the levels of the two roofs allow for light access to the building through use of special galzing and parabolic casings.  A steel construction with curved walls carries the whole building.
