The new music centre has the shape of a shell which leans against the former officer’s mess of the barracks complex on the “Chassé” area. In order to limit the noise pollution the building was added a double peel of 1m with on top multiplex barges filled with a special sand. This isolation must lower the noise to a whisper level. The spacious construction of steel rafters, a work from Pieters Bouwtechniek, got a copper outside lining. The inside construction is filled with stone wool with stucco gauze. The outside copper wall has no windows, a pop centre does not need direct daylight. The slit openings are used to bring and evacuate the light. After the building poppodium was finished it offered a room, including balcony, for 650 people. The Music Coffee shop will be able to host up to 150 visitors. 4 isolated repetition spaces have been created to welcome drums, guitars and bass amplifiers, two cloakrooms with showers as well as office and meeting spaces. They have also foreseen a space for the loading and unloading of the instruments for the bands and a space in the basement for bicycles. M&M Bouw Brabant en Smulders Duscon are responsible for this construction.
In 2002 the Poppodium Mezz Concerts & Dance opened its doors to the public. The music tempel created by Erick van Egeraat Associated Architects in Breda was de successor of poptempel Para.
