Hector Berlioz sports center, Vincennes, France

By its inclusion in a complex urban fabric, with residential buildings on one side and the strong presence of Hector Berlioz school the other, the new sports complex risks losing visibility.  It is therefore necessary to find a way to ‘announce’ its presence from the end of the passage leading from the main entrance, while affirming its functional diversity in relation to neighboring buildings.

The aim is to create a real "showcase" for sports activities through a base made from glass on top of which is placed a copper clad volume.  The copper skin creates a depth to the facade and makes the complex look more slim and light.  Intended to change its color over time and become green, the copper skin will adopt the colouration of the surrounding plants on the west wall and roofs.

The appearance of the new center is reinforced by the development of the passage that leads to the entrance.  Red lines drawn on the ground bring to mind an athletics track and invite you to discover the glass facade of the entrance which announces in Vincennois ‘Let's play sport!’.

The glazed base at ground floor is illuminated at night fall creating a set of transparencies which seem to float the copper volume above.
