On a footprint of only 400m² the project demonstrates the opportunity to build on a site that would otherwise not be feasible. As the building is elevated, the ground area can be used for parking. With the modular space box concept [BOX:09] an equally clear and convincing answer can be delivered to modern office and living requirements that place equal demands on high architectural claims, maximum flexibility, and optimal efficiency. [BOX :09] is based on a system of standardised, prefabricated room modules which can be fitted together very quickly to form the required building at the desired location. The [BOX:09] can be realized almost anywhere, only the ground structure needs to be adapted to the local conditions.
As distinguished from other module systems the single modular cells, which are about 20 square meters, are built with floor, ceiling and all supplying lines in the hall and during the construction on site they get connected with some turnbuckles. As a result with this construction system it has the highest prefabrication level on this sector. The concept works as a single object or connected in series. [Box:09] is very efficient and easy to realize due to the high level of prefabrication.
A special optical element is the facade - made of brass with a new perforated panel plate (3D-performed panels). These panels with a size of 175 x 65 cm are also prefabricated in the hall and the nearly ready single boxes are brought as an abnormal load to the site. The golden facade is glued with a special system to the substructure to guarantee ideal performance with long-life durability. Due to the excellent handicraft, we are really convinced that the modular box on this location couldn't be better wrapped in.
For this project it was also important to use sustainable and ecological building materials, especially in combination with modern architecture and design. The whole construction is made of solid wood. Besides very low maintenance costs there is a very good insulation of the brass exterior coat and using innovative energy systems effects lower operating costs.
