The Secret Garden, Barcelona, Spain

Bybossy & Partners

The Secret Garden in Sant Andreu de Llavaneres (Barcelona, Spain) was conceived with an architectural strategy that is always present in the works of Artur Bossy. The strategy consists in uniting the landscape and its surroundings, and making the building, its inhabitants and landscaping coexist in harmony, being the bioclimatic architecture the connecting thread for all these elements.

An honest approach to noble materials also frames this work that lives a life of its own. Wood, water, copper and glass are the only sources of inspiration for this project by and for the owners whose maxim is to be in permanent harmony with nature and environment.

The recreation of the Spanish patio, and therefore, the recovery of shadows in a country of great solar impact, is achieved thanks to the peculiar shape of the building purposefully marked by the copper cover. The absence of indoor partitions, transparent south facades and isolated northern ones, where the sunshine is greater, together with the central water installation and the pool, create the effect of visual relaxation, typical of the gardens in ancient Mesopotamia.

The use of copper embodies the uniqueness of the project, integrates it with the Mediterranean skylines and turns this work into an architectural jewel.
