Sustainable architecture – Fully integrated solar thermal copper façade system
Scandinavia's flagship of sustainable construction is a swimming hall in Pori with prepatinated copper facade panels which collect solar energy for heating the swimming hall and pool. Invisible integration of collectors behind the copper facade panels provide thermal energy without any compromise to the visual appearance of the building. Copper is especially well-suited to solar thermal façade systems because it has the best thermal conductivity of all the usual façade and roofing materials. In addition on the roof of the building are PV solar panels which contribute to electricity supply for the building.
Video shows how it works.
