Celebrating the beauty and versatility of copper and its alloys, the biennial awards collect exemplary and innovative uses of copper in a programme that brings the finest contemporary European architecture to an international audience.
To be eligible, a project must incorporate roofing, cladding, or other prominent architectural elements made from copper or copper alloys. Any type or scale of project can be entered, from grand landmarks to modest installations. A panel of architects and critics—including some of the most influential designers in Europe—will judge entries on overall architectural quality, based on the images submitted.
In 2015, Awards 17 gathered over 50 entries representing 17 countries, and with copper a growing design trend 2017 promises to be one of the most exciting awards yet. The 2015 judging panel included four architects: Keith Williams of Keith Williams Architects in the UK, Ulla Hell of Plasma Studio in Italy, Erik Nobel of NOBEL arkitekter in Denmark and Fernando Sa of Pitagoras Aquitectos in Portugal. All have received Copper in Architecture Awards themselves, bringing a competitor’s viewpoint to their role.
The deadline for Awards 18 entries is 30 April 2017.
